Ponderings – Ourselves

Motivation is great. I think of it as the initial building block of success, that spark to ignite the fire of passion which smolders inside all of us. However, it can only take us so far. You can read as many books and watch as many videos as you want, but what will be there to take its place once the flames begin to dwindle and we slowly sink back into our monotonous routines and self-destructive habits?

Discipline. Our journeys to success start with motivation, with that spark, and end with us reaching our goals. But there’s a lot of space in-between the two. A space full of a lot of difficult, not-so-fun things. That’s where self-discipline comes in. Disciplining ourselves, hardwiring our minds for success. Suddenly, the menial tasks seem less menial, the stressful times more manageable, for we have something else pushing us forward.

Ourselves.

Ponderings – Sailing In A Circle

Look, I’m all for being passionate, for working hard, being ambitious. But I’m also a big believer in having a plan. Having a dream is one thing. Knowing exactly what you want, and how you’re going to get it- that is how success is attained.

You can have as much wind behind your sails as you want, but if you don’t bring a compass, you’ll be sailing in a circle on open waters your whole life with no land in sight.

Ponderings – Touch Of Humility

It’s one thing to be confident- to be poised and self-assured in everything you do. It’s another thing to be overconfident- to be smug and cocky. One will send you down the path to success, to honest, fulfilling relationships, to a life you’ve envisioned; the other down a path to disappointment, to flaky, hollow relationships, to a life of everlasting dissatisfaction.

Be confident, but try adding a touch of humility to your confidence. You’ll have a recipe for success.

Ponderings – Ideas

Ideas solve problems, become inventions, cure diseases, build cities, make discoveries, write books, sing songs. They are the foundation of our lives and make the world go ’round. Yet if always kept enclosed in the confines of our minds, if never shared, never acted upon, they will surely come with us to the graveyard as just that: an idea.
