Ponderings – Life’s a Marathon

Do you ever think about how often we ever stop and think? I swear, sometimes it feels like my brain’s sprinting towards a finish line that it’ll never reach. When did everything become so stressful, when did our schedules suddenly fill up and leave us with no time for the things we actually enjoy?

We’re busy, I get it. But remember, like any journey, life’s a marathon, not a sprint. You wouldn’t want to sprint ahead the first minute then burn yourself out, right? So just like in a marathon, it’s OK to slow down, take a break.

I’ll drive my point home with this: the best time to make time for yourself is when you have none.

Ponderings – Concern

It is natural to be concerned about others’ opinions, to wonder of our image in others’ eyes. But once this concern begins to govern our thoughts, our actions, our lives, we need remind ourselves to turn the concern inward. Let others’ thoughts be their own, let them think and say what they want. At the end of each day, the only person’s thoughts that we have control over is our own.

Ponderings – Ideas

Ideas solve problems, become inventions, cure diseases, build cities, make discoveries, write books, sing songs. They are the foundation of our lives and make the world go ’round. Yet if always kept enclosed in the confines of our minds, if never shared, never acted upon, they will surely come with us to the graveyard as just that: an idea.

Ponderings – Seemingly Humble

In our heads, talking down our accomplishments and refusing to give light to our talents in order to make those around us feel better about themselves seems a noble and humble act, when in reality is one of the greatest disservices to mankind we can do. Keeping our gifts hidden in the shadows does nothing to help illuminate the world.

Ponderings – Outside Force

Our greatest struggle when facing the upward trudge towards our goals is often not the journey itself, but the first step. What we fail to remember is that an object in motion tends to stay in motion, while an object at rest will almost certainly stay at rest indefinitely. Unless of course, an outside force were to act upon it.

So perhaps the question you must ask yourself is: What will that force be for you?
